37/52 | The Rebels: A Hard Day’s Night

52 Weeks of Star Wars is a weekly photo project starring various characters from the Star Wars franchise. This photo project is a continuation of sorts to my original series; 365 Days of Clones, specially my Cloned Photos mini-series.

Today marks the Thirty Seventh creation in this year long adventure. As the title suggests; 52 Weeks of Star Wars, one new photo will be taken, edited and added to the running total every Sunday. The twist is that all the images will be a recreation of sorts of a previous image. Some; like today, will be album covers, some will be film posters and others will be famous or well known images of the 20th century. There may even be the odd recreation of a painting!

“The Rebels: A Hard Day’s Night” is my recreation of the Beatles third studio album; A Hard Day’s Night. A Hard Day’s Night was released on July 10th, 1964.

Some of you may be wondering why I chose to create a Cloned Photo base upon this album cover. Upon first glance, there doesn’t seem to be a connection between the Star Wars franchise and A Hard Day’s Night. What most people don’t know, however, is that John Jympson was hired by George Lucas to edit Star Wars: A New Hope. Jympson was also the primary editor for the Beatles film A Hard Day’s Night.

Now for the rationale of why I chose Obi Wan, Artoo, Luke and Threepio to replace the Fab Four. I chose to have Obi-Wan take John’s spot as I feel that Obi-Wan and John were (and are) the true leaders of their groups. Luke takes Paul’s spot as the successor after the death of Obi-Wan; much the same as Paul replaces John as the Band’s figurehead upon his death. I thought Threepio was a great replacement for Ringo as I see them both as “yes” men or followers of sort; doing what they are told to do. And finally Artoo as George. I believe that both Artoo and George were the quiet ones in their groups, I also feel that all either of them wanted was their voice or beeps to be heard!

Enjoy!
